Cypriot Mezze: an exercise in futility

There is no way to finish this food.  No way.  Yet they just keep bringing it, and bringing it, and bringing more.  Even the Cypriots complain about the amount and wastefulness of the Mezzes.

st - grilled haloumi (Cypriot salty cheese) lloutza (ham)

nd- all of the amazing dips:  from left- tzatzki, tahini, taramsalata, Greek yogurt

rd- Manitaria- marinated mushrooms

th- Coriatiho llucaniho- Cypriot sausage

th- Kipferes- fried vegetable croquettes

th- zucchini with scrambled eggs (this was amazing, shockingly tasty for something so simple)

th- stuffed grape leaves

th- Fried potatoes (the Cypriots are miracle-workers with potatoes)

th- liver and onions.  But somehow I lost the picture of this one.  Which is okay, since it was the least photogenic.

th- Pork Souvlaki

th- Stefado- beef stew (this was also amazing- I could have eaten only it, and been very happy)

th- Paidakia- lamb ribs

th- Souvlakotopolo- roast chicken

th- marinated pork (at this point, I was sad that I was too full to even try a single bite of it).

th- a nice light fruit course to end the feast

  1. Oh, I confess that I like these photos more than the pretty outdoor ones right now! I want some grape leaves and croquettes. What a fun problem to have- too much amazing food! I'm off to the Jewel. Not so much amazing food there but ALL the kids in one class brought their homework and I promised a treat if that ever happened (it never happened last year- so I think this is a good sign!)
